Georgia Local Section of the American Nuclear Society
The ANS Georgia Section was established in 1971 (originally the Atlanta Section) and renamed in 2004 to the Georgia Section.
The ANS GA section's territory consist of the state of Georgia; excluding zip codes 30400-30499 , 30800-30999 , 31300-31599 which are served by the ANS Savannah River Section.
GA Section Mission
Advance nuclear energy as a critical resource for meeting our electricity, transportation, medical, environmental, and security needs through the following focus areas:
- Innovation. Disseminating new developments in advanced nuclear technology;
- Renewable energy expansion. Promoting nuclear power as the stable energy source to facilitating the expansion of renewable energy sources for meeting our electricity needs;
- Academia bridge to industry. Develop robust relationships with local educational institutions to further the connection of nuclear talent to regional business needs.
About ANS
The American Nuclear Society is celebrating 60 years as the premier society for nuclear professionals. Our individual membership ranks include more than 10,000 engineers, scientists, educators, students, and others with nuclear related interests. ANS produces position papers on nuclear science and technology issues of our times, publishing these in print and on our website.
